Last week, we shared the news that Subaru was preparing to unveil two special performance models at Boxerfest 2026. Now the covers are off.

Subaru of America officially debuted the 2027 Subaru WRX GD25 and 2027 Subaru BRZ ZC15 at Boxerfest in York, Pennsylvania, giving enthusiasts their first full look at two extremely limited anniversary editions celebrating the performance heritage of the WRX and BRZ.

And Subaru isn’t simply adding special badges and calling it a day.

Both models receive heritage-inspired colors, performance upgrades and Subaru Tecnica International (STI) components designed to connect today’s WRX and BRZ with the cars that helped establish Subaru’s performance reputation in the United States.

Why GD25 and ZC15?

The names themselves tell part of the story.

The GD25 celebrates 25 years since the WRX first came to the United States. That original 2002 WRX used Subaru’s “GD” chassis code, making GD25 a direct reference to the car that introduced a generation of American enthusiasts to Subaru turbocharged performance.

The ZC15 celebrates 15 years of the BRZ. The first-generation BRZ arrived for the 2012 model year using the “ZC” chassis designation.

Subaru has therefore gone deeper into its history than simply calling these “25th Anniversary” and “15th Anniversary” editions. Even their names speak directly to longtime enthusiasts.

2027 Subaru WRX GD25: World Rally Blue and Gold Return

If there is one Subaru color combination that needs virtually no introduction, it is World Rally Blue with gold wheels.

That combination returns in dramatic fashion on the WRX GD25.

Every GD25 will be finished exclusively in World Rally Blue and equipped with gold-painted 19-inch alloy wheels. Behind those wheels are upgraded Brembo brakes with matching gold-painted calipers and Bridgestone Potenza S007 high-performance tires.

That Wing Has a Serious Pedigree

The GD25 receives a dry carbon-fiber swan-neck rear wing from Subaru Tecnica International (STI).

More importantly, it isn’t simply inspired by Subaru’s motorsports program. Subaru says it is the same component used on Travis Pastrana’s WRX ARA25L rally car.

Under the hood, Subaru adds a flexible strut tower bar to increase rigidity. The suspension has also been performance tuned with stiffer springs and revised damping calibration, working together with the Potenza S007 tires to improve cornering composure.

The GD25 Keeps the Turbocharged BOXER and Manual Transmission

Power comes from Subaru’s 2.4-liter turbocharged SUBARU BOXER engine producing 271 horsepower, paired with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.

And enthusiasts hoping Subaru would keep the anniversary model focused on driver involvement should like this next part:

Every WRX GD25 gets a six-speed manual transmission.

Better yet, Subaru pairs it with an STI short shifter.

Inside, Subaru continues the performance theme with Recaro performance seats featuring black Ultrasuede inserts and red accent stitching, along with an STI shift knob.

Only 350 WRX GD25s Are Coming

This won’t be a WRX you’ll see on every corner.

Subaru will produce just 350 examples of the 2027 WRX GD25 for the U.S. market.

All 350 will be World Rally Blue with gold wheels, a six-speed manual transmission and an STI short shifter.

2027 Subaru BRZ ZC15: A Different Kind of Subaru Heritage

While the WRX GD25 leans heavily into Subaru’s rally history, the BRZ ZC15 celebrates the lightweight, rear-wheel-drive side of Subaru performance.

And visually, it may be every bit as distinctive.

The BRZ ZC15 is finished exclusively in Ceramic White, a color Subaru says is exclusive to this special edition.

Subaru pairs the white exterior with matte bronze wheels, red-painted Brembo brake calipers and unique bronze graphics near the side sills.

The white-and-bronze treatment pays tribute to the 2020 Subaru BRZ tS, which used a similar color combination.

More Than a Special Paint Job

At the rear, the ZC15 receives a black decklid spoiler, while underneath the hood Subaru installs a flexible V-bar.

Power remains naturally aspirated, coming from the BRZ’s 2.4-liter SUBARU BOXER engine producing 228 horsepower.

And just like the WRX GD25, there is only one transmission available: a six-speed manual.

The BRZ remains rear-wheel drive, maintaining the layout that has defined the sports car since its introduction.

A Unique BRZ Interior

Subaru didn’t stop with exterior changes.

The ZC15 receives black leather-appointed upholstery with Bordeaux red inserts that aren’t shared with the rest of the BRZ lineup.

An STI aluminum-and-leather short shifter adds another performance touch, while a unique “ZC15” anniversary plaque identifies the car as something special.

The BRZ Is Even Rarer

Subaru plans to produce only 300 examples of the 2027 BRZ ZC15.

That makes it even more limited than the 350-unit WRX GD25.

The BRZ ZC15 is expected to arrive in early 2027, ahead of the WRX GD25’s summer arrival.
