Subaru performance fans have something new to look forward to.
Subaru is preparing to unveil two enthusiast-focused 2027 Subaru performance models at Boxerfest 2026 in York, Pennsylvania. The special-edition vehicles will be based on two of the most recognizable cars in the Subaru performance lineup: the Subaru WRX and Subaru BRZ.
The official debut is scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2026, during Boxerfest at the York Fairgrounds.
While Subaru is keeping many of the details under wraps until the reveal, early teaser information gives us a few clues about what could be coming.
Two New Limited-Edition Subaru Performance Cars
Rather than simply introducing the standard 2027 WRX and BRZ, Subaru is teasing limited-edition, enthusiast-focused versions of both vehicles.
That distinction makes the upcoming reveal particularly interesting.
The Subaru WRX and BRZ already occupy two very different positions within the Subaru performance family. The WRX combines turbocharged BOXER power with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, while the BRZ delivers a lightweight, rear-wheel-drive sports-car experience.
Now Subaru appears ready to give enthusiasts even more specialized versions of both.
What We Know About the 2027 Subaru WRX Limited Edition
Subaru hasn't released the complete specifications of the new WRX limited edition yet, but the teaser imagery offers some interesting clues.
One of the most noticeable features appears to be a large rear wing, suggesting Subaru may be giving the car a more aggressive aerodynamic package than the standard WRX.

For now, there is no confirmation that the 2027 limited edition represents the return of the WRX STI.
Current information points more toward a special version of the existing WRX performance formula, potentially using the WRX tS as its foundation.
That doesn't make the reveal any less interesting.
A limited-production WRX combining tS performance equipment with unique styling, aerodynamic upgrades and exclusive colors or interior details could make this one of the most distinctive WRX models of the current generation.

A Special 2027 Subaru BRZ Is Coming Too
The WRX isn't arriving alone.
Subaru will also reveal a limited-edition 2027 Subaru BRZ aimed directly at driving enthusiasts.
The standard 2027 BRZ continues to use Subaru's naturally aspirated 2.4-liter SUBARU BOXER engine, producing 228 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.
Its traditional sports-car layout combines that engine with rear-wheel drive, a low center of gravity and a Torsen limited-slip differential.
For 2027, the BRZ lineup includes the BRZ Limited and BRZ tS.
The BRZ tS takes the platform further with performance-focused equipment including STI-tuned suspension and Brembo performance brakes.
That makes the tS another interesting candidate to serve as the foundation for the newly teased limited edition.
Exactly what Subaru has planned remains a mystery.
More Than a Regular BRZ Limited
It's important to distinguish the upcoming Boxerfest reveal from the regular 2027 Subaru BRZ Limited trim.
The BRZ Limited is already part of the normal 2027 BRZ lineup.
The vehicle Subaru is teasing for Boxerfest appears to be an additional limited-production enthusiast model, potentially incorporating unique styling and performance equipment beyond the regular BRZ Limited.
Subaru has not yet announced its official name, production numbers or pricing.
Subaru Has Done This Before
Limited-production performance models aren't new territory for Subaru.
For the 2026 model year, Subaru offered a highly exclusive WRX tS-based special edition limited to just 350 vehicles.
That model featured distinctive Sunrise Yellow exterior paint, matte-black 19-inch wheels, black exterior badging and unique black-and-yellow interior details.
It demonstrated how Subaru can take the already capable WRX tS platform and create something considerably more exclusive for enthusiasts and collectors.
Whether Subaru follows a similar strategy with the upcoming 2027 WRX and BRZ remains to be seen.
